I've decided to do the magazine project. The reason i've chosen this project to do is because I already somewhat have an idea of what I could do for it. I'm thinking about doing a magazine on hobbies or outside activities, such as rollerskating, long boarding, rump rope, and other things. I could get pictures of action shots from many different angles and pictures of friends also doing these activities as examples. I have experience editing photos and such and working with texts and fonts, I also find writing as an easier task. Also I plan to work alone and the film project would take a group, or if only me it would take a lot of hard work. I thought the film might be fun but I really just don't have the time or supplies to pull it off, so a magazine would be a better fit. A Film project would be fun due to the wide variety of possibilities you could do for it. There are many creative ideas you could think up and you have the room to come up with anything you want. It would be even more fun working with a group where you could bond and have fun and just put together many ideas. From the movies we have watched, such as Ferris Bueller's Day Off, it was a comedy and the camera angles helped give a good idea of the character and the address to the audience was clever and gave more to the movie. The many aspects of film such as camera angles, transition, sound, editing is quite impressive and does interest me. To put all those things together to create something that can give people joy, sadness, anger all the emotions. There are also many tools to get desired camera angles or movements. A magazine is interesting because it has many aspects and complex things that go into it. One page may be a wide variety of things and your eye is drawn in by the many different things to see. I've learned many things within this class about journalism, newspapers, and magazines such as the number of ads on each page and how the fonts and covers are eye-catching. When it comes to magazines its all about who is drawn to it, the target audience of the magazine to be exact, and a cover is very important to that. It may consist of characters, colors, or people that relate to that topic and may have certain fonts and titles that a lot attract the consumer. In the newsroom brought up certain magazines such as gossip and take-down magazines that would attract certain people. Also, for revenue there are many ads, 50% of the page is writing of what the newspaper is about and 50% is ads.
