Audience Engagement Research - Racquet

RACQUET
This magazine takes creative liberty to a new level with its amazing imagery and gives you a clear idea of what your getting into when you see it. As a new and upcoming magazine it has alot of competition, so they market in a number of places to a number of people. The age range for the magazine would be any age, normally 10-60 years of age. Gender could be any gender but most likely more women are viewing the magazine than men, but still both can enjoy it. My magazine would also be like this, as it accounts for many ages and genders to reach a wide audience of people who share an interest in the specific topic. When it comes to things like the income of audience and their overall education level, i'd say the audience is at least knowledgeable enough to access the magazine and purchase things if needed. There is not much of a preference with the age and education, as long as they have the common sense to make rational decisions.
I believe our target audience is similar in a way of being mostly about a certain things and sticking to it and just letting those who are interested in it read it. Racquet is mostly about the art of tennis and portraying it in a trendy type of way. This is a way of persuasion, in getting the audience to go with the crowd and want to appeal to the crowd. So their main focus in the magazines is to show off the sport, just as my magazine shows off the many amazing outdoor activities. The portraying to 'trendy' or 'pop' is also something I would use to attract the teen audience and show off the magazine as something fresh and new. I would also try to make my magazines unique and clean like theirs, they make everything new looking and just seeing the cover makes you want to check it out. The eye catching imagery and colors are something that magazines take advantage of.
WEBSITE
The magazine has a website that shows their focus off well. When you first get onto their website its a pop of bright colors and meaningful imagery to draw in your interest. As well as drawing you in, it offers many options, such as to subscribe to the magazine, view articles, and even a shop where they market and advertise their magazine. The subscribing to the magazine allows full access to articles and more, and is an efficient way to make money off of marketing to the online audience. I would do this for my magazine, have them subscribe to access the whole magazine online so that I now have a range of online audience. The shop on the website is a good way to market also, as it lets you purchase more than just the physical magazine, but products. They have trendy and fun products like shirts to market their magazine to others as the audience wears or uses their products. This is such a good way to market the magazine since its tough to get magazines to show up physically in stores, but by having people wear shirts with ties to the magazine is a way to advertise the magazine and bring in new audience from it.

SOCIAL MEDIA
The Racquet magazine has a variety of social media accounts it uses to market its magazine. Some of the examples would be Instagram, twitter, and others. On their Instagram, as shown below, they have a link to their website and many photos and stories to demonstrate what their magazine is all about. With social media they have the ability to reach the online crowd and get people together who enjoy the specific topic. I think the online advertising is very useful and a fun way to engage with the new generation, it will widen the magazines audience. With my magazine I would use social media to advertise and market, also to get engaged with my audience. Also, using more than one social media platform so that you can get the max potential of online audience from many different places.
